Kiwanis Park 2025 Improvements

Kiwanis Park 2025 Improvements

As previously stated, the existing tennis courts are in poor condition and cannot be replaced in the current location due to provincially regulated archaeological considerations in the area. Additionally, the current location does not meet today's requirements for proper spacing from private property lines. As a result, the existing tennis courts will be removed and restored with native plant material.

In the summer of 2024, the community was invited to provide feedback on what sports court should be constructed east of the existing washroom building. The City received very positive feedback and would like to thank all who completed the online survey.

Based on public input, the following will be constructed east of the existing washroom building, subject to archaeology and regulatory approvals:

- Two pickleball courts

- One-half basketball court

- Seating Area

- Tree planting

In addition to the work above, future improvements will be made to the existing spray pad and washroom building. A concept map of the proposed enhancements is included on the back side of this letter. Please note that with the removal of the existing tennis courts in Kiwanis Park- North, the City will be improving and constructing new tennis courts in the surrounding area.
