- Snow removal and maintenance of public properties and sidewalks
- Parks and Community Centre spaces
- Creating new city roads and maintaining existing ones
- Concerns over municipal laws or by-laws and their respective officers, including property standards, parking, etc.
- London Police services, that implement provincial and federal law
- Planning and building applications and permits on developments (type, location, size etc.) in all classes, residential, industrial & commercial
- Council also has representation on local boards and commissions such as transit, tourism, housing, library, etc

- The Highway Traffic Act, regulating all road transportation and maintenance standards
- Some family law including adoption and martial property and Children's Aid Society issues
- Management of prisons that hold minors and adults sentenced under two years
- ODSP and Ontario Works

- Banking, bankruptcy and creating money (printing bills and minting coins)
- Postal services
- Immigration and passport issues
- Canadian Forces issues
- Environmental regulations
- Reservations and treaties and laws within Indigenous populations
- International issues including trade, military, immigration etc.
- Taxes including Goods and Services Tax (GST), some income tax and 5% of the 13% HST
- Unemployment insurance, Canada Pension Plan
- Some family law including marriage and divorce
